Ortiz Knew

David Ortiz, a player worthy of high respect knew. As he laid back in the dugout with his batting gloves over his face, he knew that by his teammate hitting into a double-play with the bases loaded in the top of the 9th, that the immutable laws of baseball would spell doom for his Bosox. He sensed that even though Papelbon, their ace, would be pitching the 9th that the world was now tilted against them.

That hell broke loose with 2 outs is not surprising at all but an oft-played script. That the Rays would now win was a given.

As a Yankee fan I take no pleasure in the Red Sox collapse as we too collapsed ignominiously. That our play-off position was set makes it worse.
