Perusing a Collection on St. Pat’s Day

If you were the type of person curious enough to peruse my Uncle Anthony’s LP collection, had time on your hands and you were not looking for just one thing, you might think that his collection was characterized by his extensive display of Original Broadway Cast albums, many many long forgotten. Or you might focus on the Italian Crooners and by no means just Sinatra or Bennett; or you might think his shelves heaved mainly with opera, both complete and the delightful highlights. But then, if you were of a certain bent, it would be the Cabaret Singers with an emphasis on Mabel Mercer and Bobby Short.
For me though, it is the catholicity of his collection that is most striking. If I were asked to highlight one element within his wide range, it would be his taste.
So today, at my fingertips, are John McCormack ( I Hear You Calling) and Robert White. They are in my collection as well, but I heard them first with my Uncle.
