I am Thankful for our Lobbyists

This Thanksgiving season I am thankful for our lobbyists and the politicians who kowtow, I mean evaluate carefully their very sensible ideas.
The latest flap is over what constitutes a serving of vegetables for school lunches. In January the U.S. Department of Agriculture issued new guidelines for school lunches. But as we know, government agencies are really bad — unless they are paying subsidies to the gargantuan companies that have bought out most of the farmers.
So the gargantuan companies paid lobbyists 5.6 Million to convince our great leaders in Congress that two tablespoons of tomato paste spread over pizza dough constitutes an adequate serving of vegetables for low-income schoolchildren.
I know, government should leave us alone and let the conglomerates decide what we should serve our children with our tax dollars — then they could save money on the lobbyists. But then the lobbyists will walk across the street to lobby for — well, somebody.
