It’s the First Inning, and I’m Already Aggravated
September 30, 2011 at 8:33 PM | Posted in Baseball | 1 CommentI am the first to admit that I’ve become a bad fan. I’m impatient and overly critical.
I wonder if it’s asking too much for our ace to get through even one inning without giving up a run?
I wonder if I’m asking too much for Cano and Arod to get a hit with men on first and second?
I know that it’s a nine inning game and you can give up a run in the first and shut the opponents down the rest of the way. I know that the first at-bat is only one of 4 or 5. I know all that.
And I’m not talking with a twist: I’m not trying to convince you that I am really a great fan in the clothes of a bad one.
Now there’s a rain delay and I wonder how you can, in good conscience, start a game at 8:47 EST?

I can’t comment on the start time since it’s a respectable 5:47 here. Last year my Giants finally did it and it made me realize how extraordinary the Yankee run during the Jeter era is. I don’t think I thought about it until then.
So, when I watch, I think about class and consistency over the long term. I’ll soak that in while you handle the at bats~
