The light turns red, I’m patient. Yeah OK.
The light turns green, I’m patient. Never thought about that before.
Deal takes a bad turn, I’m patient.
We are selected on a deal, I’m patient. Hmm, that’s when I usually get even more impatient.
My injured left hip seems worse, I’m patient.
My injured left hip seems better, I’m patient – and don’t immediately test it in a race.
I’ve generally advocated patience as a concept but more often practiced “patience, my ass.” I can attribute some of the stupidest decisions I have ever made to impatience. The complete collapse and failure of my golf game can be laid at the feet of my wonderful predilection.
But now, studying under Pema Chödrön, I’m learning these Tibetan slogans and find that the opportunity to use them are endless.
